Even though the Nvidia Control Panel Output color depth drop down will only show 8 bpc, the DirectX driven application should have an option to toggle to 10 bpc However, OpenGL applications will still use 8bit color167m colors refers to 24bit "true color" mode, which is 8bits of color per channel R (red) G (green) B (blue) Since the monitor doesn't support HDR, you don't need 10 or 12 bit color depth to represent every color the monitor is capable of displayingThis is an 8bit display I just received my second monitor, a LG 27GLAB When setting up this monitor, in the Nvidia Control Panel>Change Resolution> 3 Apply the following settings>Output Color Depth, I notice I can change this monitor from 8bit to 10bit
In more technical terms, an 8bit file works with RGB using 256 levels per channel, while 10bit jumps up to 1,024 levels per channel This means a 10bit image can display up to 107 billion colors, while an 8bit photo can only display 167 million Set Output Color Depth To 10Bpc Use the nvidia control panel My monitor can do 10 bit color, but by default windows shows it at 8 bit (i have monitor at 4k 144hz dp 14 dsc) Nvidia color and gamma settings won't save Most monitors are 8 bit, there are a few 10 bit panels, but they cost some serious $$ The 32 bit you see on the right is a whole different thing Try Googling 8 bit panel vs 10 bit panel Then Google 16 bit color depth vs 32 bit color depth

Hi all, I recently bought the UHD monitor U28E590D, it does support 10bit color depth, and so i wanted to test it using Photoshop CC 15 I alredy configured everything in order to set the output in 10bit Nvidia control panel 10bit mode enabled (Geforce GTX 760TI, driver version ) Th So 12 bit > 10 bit > 8 bit RGB = YCbCr 444 > YCbCr 422 > YCbCr 4 YCbCr 4 is acceptable for watching movies, sometimes ok for playing games (there's issues with tiny text and some colors like intense reds being affected by the conversion from 444 to 4) If you can do 10 bit, I'd say try it out
